Women on Wheels: Empowering Women Through Cycling
Welcome to Women on Wheels, a Glasgow-based community cycling hub dedicated to breaking down barriers and making cycling a joy accessible to all women. Founded in 2022, we've embarked on a transformative journey, empowering women and families through our diverse range of cycling activities.
Our Journey:
- 2017: A dream to support women took root.
- 2022: A social enterprise was born, marked by online launch on International Women’s Day.
- 2023: A thriving year with significant milestones, from hosting the first Women’s Cycle Festival to active involvement in the UCI Cycling World Championships.
Our Mission:Empower and enable women to overcome barriers to cycling - for transport, physical and mental health, and the sheer joy of it. We understand and address challenges like safety concerns, lack of confidence, financial constraints, access issues, parenting responsibilities, time constraints, and cultural or health barriers.
Our Vision:We envision a world where women on wheels are the norm, not the exception. Our inclusive community, led by women, is committed to dismantling barriers and fostering a love for cycling.
