The UW Medicine Cycling Club traces its roots back to 2011 when a small group of friends and riding enthusiasts, primarily affiliated with the University of Washington Medical Center, gathered for bike rides. Over the years, the club has flourished, now boasting over 80 cyclists representing various UW Medicine practice sites. The primary goal of the club is to raise awareness about cycling and its myriad benefits while fostering enduring relationships through the shared love of cycling. The club is inclusive, welcoming all UW faculty, staff, and their spouses.

The picturesque landscapes of Western Washington provide a stunning backdrop for our rides, although the challenging hills add an extra element of excitement to our cycling adventures. While the club is most active during the summer months, members ride throughout the year, exploring not only local routes but also participating in rides in British Columbia, California, and Europe. Many have joined major Seattle metropolitan area rides organized by groups like the Cascade Bicycle Club.

Our schedule includes rides on most weekends and occasionally on weekdays during the summer. Ride lengths and paces vary, with announcements made the week of the ride. Members can post rides on our Facebook page or main website, encouraging others to join. The club thrives on member engagement, and multiple posted rides contribute to increased participation. Social cohesion is vital, and we typically organize at least one "all-inclusive social ride" during the summer, providing an excellent opportunity for members to connect. As the club continues to grow, the vision is for subgroups of like-abilities to form, allowing members to design their own rides within these groups.
