Founded in 1989 as Team Sheffrec, our club has evolved into Sheffrec Cycling Club, combining a rich history of competitive cycling with an enhanced focus on camaraderie and inclusivity.

Originating from Sheffield Recreation workers, the founder members were visionaries: Brian Brogan, Dave Mappin, Chris Dale, Martin Brown, Ed Joy, Mick Boustred, and Wayne Peacock. In its early years, Team Sheffrec thrived as a road racing club participating in Time Trials, Grass Track, Road Racing, Cyclo-Cross, and even mountain biking events. Notable achievements include Matt McNaughton's junior MTB victories and Wayne Peacock's major road race triumphs in France during the Summer of 1992.

Now known as Sheffrec Cycling Club, we maintain our competitive edge while expanding our activities and emphasizing social connections. The heart of our club beats with the Sunday Club Run—a ride that welcomes newcomers and younger riders, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment. Departing from Malin Bridge, our routes weave through the breathtaking Peak District, covering approximately 55 miles with a well-deserved cafe stop.

Our ethos, "One Love," is not just emblazoned on our kit but defines our commitment to fostering a supportive community where new and younger members are encouraged to progress.

While racing remains a significant aspect, we've seen success in various categories, including senior road race wins, victories in schoolboy and veteran categories, and strong representation in Time Trials and Hill Climbs. In 2011, a standout year, our achievements were propelled by Daniel Storey's success, leading to a contract with the TSR-Trigon racing team. As an unsponsored club, we take pride in nurturing talent, even if it means members move to clubs with greater material support.

Beyond racing, Sheffrec actively organizes events, including the BC Yorkshire Road Race Championships and the prestigious HMT Monsal Hill Climb, dating back to 1930. Our involvement in the Sheffield Grand Prix, incorporating the National Criterium Championship, has placed it firmly on the Elite Circuit Series Calendar.
