In the historic 1958 Tour de France, Stan Brittain, among a diverse international team, tackled the Col d'Iozard. His cycling feats also include a 3rd place finish in the 1955 Peace Race and a silver medal at the 1956 Olympics. Norman Sheil, a Phoenix member, clinched the World Pursuit Champion titles in 1955 and 1958. The 1961 TDF featured the GB squad with Stan Brittain, Brian Robinson, and Harry Reynolds. They celebrated the Phoenix's 100th Anniversary Dinner in 2019. In June 2021, Louise Johnson, Hannah Fawcett, and Janet Fairclough set a world record cycling to and hiking up the national 3 Peaks. Bradley Wiggins honed his skills at the Phoenix Time Trial in 2006 as training for the Tour de France prologue.
