Northeast Bicycle Club

Since its inception in 1957, the Northeast Bicycle Club (NEBC) has stood as a stalwart in the world of cycling, evolving into one of New England's oldest and most respected racing clubs. Founded by a small group of dedicated racers, including the notable Dick Ring, NEBC's primary goal was to promote and expand the sport of bicycle racing in Greater Boston.
Over the years, NEBC has weathered the changes in equipment trends and lifestyle preferences, persisting as a beacon for cycling enthusiasts. The club's success is evident in the multitude of opportunities it provides, ranging from Citizen races to prestigious national competitions like the Fitchburg and Killington Stage races.
NEBC's fundamental philosophy revolves around rider development. Many members have joined as juniors, honed their skills in club training rides and local races, and ascended to become respected senior category riders. The club is unwavering in its commitment to finding the next generation of racers, equipping them with essential skills, and instilling a lifelong enthusiasm for cycling.
The heart of NEBC's program lies in its complete set of USA Cycling (USAC) teams, covering all age groups, men and women, each with its own team captain. The club encourages all members to join these teams, fostering inclusivity and teamwork. There are no rigid rules about training groups, promoting interaction among riders of varying experience levels.
During the April to September racing season, NEBC hosts a comprehensive calendar of weekly events, creating an integrated training program to develop well-rounded skills. With a membership exceeding 220 riders, including a significant representation of licensed USAC riders and 21% women, NEBC is a diverse community comprising individuals from various walks of life.
NEBC actively engages in community activities, aiming to expose casual riders to bicycle racing and enhance their cycling enjoyment. The club hosts a "New Racer Development" clinic each spring, coached by experienced racers, to introduce newcomers to the technical aspects of bicycle racing and build essential skills.
As an active participant in USAC district events, both on and off the bicycle, NEBC keeps its members informed about important district activities and USAC developments. With a rich history and a commitment to fostering a love for cycling, NEBC continues to be a driving force in the cycling community, embracing inclusivity, teamwork, and a passion for the sport.
